Management Team

David Shine


David Shine co-founded dBMEDx, Inc. in 2010 and has served as the CEO since that time. Mr. Shine has over 20 years of medical device experience covering FDA Class 2 and 3 devices including executive leadership roles in R&D, engineering, pre-clinical, clinical and manufacturing. Prior to founding dBMEDx Mr. Shine served as a consultant to a diverse range of medical device start-up companies in technical, clinical and managerial roles. Mr. Shine is a named inventor on 13 US patents and has a BSEE from the University of Notre Dame and an MS in Biomedical Engineering from Boston University.

Bill Barnard


Mr. Barnard is the lead engineer and CTO of dBMEDx and inventor of the 3D ultrasound architecture at the heart of the dBMEDx technology. He has 23 years of medical device experience, 14 of those years with a company that is the leader in the bladder ultrasound market where he ultimately rose to the position of VP of R&D. He was the principal technical force behind the engineering of the ultrasound product line during his tenure, designing the first iterations of the bladder ultrasound devices himself before building out the full engineering team and shifting his focus to the overall product architecture and strategy.  With his years of experience guiding the ultrasound product line and inside knowledge of the market needs, Mr. Barnard is uniquely positioned to create the next generation of portable 3D ultrasound devices. He is a named inventor on 17 patents (12 in ultrasound) and has a BSEE from the University of Rochester.

Bill Quirk, MD


Dr. Quirk is a board certified emergency medicine physician with over 20 years of practical experience treating a broad range of pathologies and patients across multiple hospital settings. Dr. Quirk’s extensive use of ultrasound in the acute care setting provides valuable insight into areas where the current standard of care is lacking and where there are significant unmet needs or significant product opportunities. In addition to direct clinical experience, Dr. Quirk has extensive business, entrepreneurial and investment experience. Dr. Quirk is an attending physician at Littleton, Porter, Parker and Castle Rock Adventist Hospitals in the metro-Denver area. Dr. Quirk has a BS in Business from the State University of New York at Oswego, an MD degree from State University of New York at Stony Brook and completed residency training in Emergency Medicine at the Stanford Medical Center and is a consultant to the Colorado Medical Board.
